Other Supers and Super Teams

Most high-profile supers who were not criminals registered with the ideal. There were, however, exceptions. Despite The Ideal’s excellent reputation, not everyone trusted that they group could keep the data secret when some of the group’s enemies were super-geniuses or individuals who could directly interface with technology. A small number simply didn’t trust The Ideal for their own reasons. Some mystical heroes, magical creatures and self-proclaimed gods that operated quietly also avoided registration. Aliens with super powers that lived in the shadows also tended to prefer anonymity.

Some countries maintained super teams that generally operated within their national borders and which The Ideal largely ignored. The Soviet Union’s Red Pioneers, who functioned in the USSR and in other Eastern Block countries are a particularly well-known example. They declined all outside financial support. Still, most other national teams were comprised of supers registered with The Ideal or who were full, active members of that team, who just preferred to operate in their native countries. There were also a handful of small teams that worked in the private sector, but usually they were registered with The Ideal too.
