Ando Sato, Mako, and Junpei met to discuss a possible meeting with the Ingel Street Shadows to resist the Astro Zeta takeover. This was put off for the moment.
The adventurers reached the back of the Guardhouse and Mr. Johnson broke through the brick wall in the back. Strange mechanical whirring sounds came from beyond. Looking through, Mr. Johnson saw numerous metal boxes. These turned out to be washing machines.
The group found that they had broken into a laundry room at the Sunrise Retirement Community, a large residence for older people. They wore Astro City MTA coveralls from the Guardhouse storage room and, after covering the hole with a large, framed MTA poster, exited the building.
Though tired and a bit behind with his responsibilities as a teacher, Dr. Montana perused the Royston Bestiary. He realized that he needed a computer expert to help him extract hidden data from the tome. Who would this be? He was as yet unsure.
Rumors suggested that the Underground market where strange goods and services could be bought and sold before the supers disappeared was once again open for business. The Junpei and Dr. Montana went together and Phil went separately, with Mr. Johnson tagging along.
Both pairs went under the Outcault Bridge and paid a pale, crablike being in a huge trenchcoat and floppy hat. He was supposed to be paid for admission in fish, lotion, or cash. Junpei paid him in sushi grade fish. A barely shimmering field appeared and Junpei and Dr. Montana were the first to pass through it.
They saw a huge, vaulted, stone chamber. In the distance, light came through far openings. In the center, a small number of beings sold wares.
Iconocalst – A human-looking woman with various tattoos. She claimed to be an expert all-around scientist. Junpei paid her to analyze their items. She identified the silver guns as weapons issued to henchmen by supervillains during the late 70’s and the 80’s.
She told Junpei that the five patched had healing properties and that slapping them to flesh would repair physical damage.
Iconoclast also told Junpei and Montana that the serum increased reformatted the user’s body with reptile DNA and boosted strength and toughness. She warned that anyone who took it should have a lot of food and water handy because the body needed mass and nutrients during the change.
Mr. Grey and Mr. Green – Two identical classic Grey aliens, one of whom wears sunglasses. They offered antiques and curious from the late 1940s and the 1950s, and bits of Grey technology. They seemed sad that the market wasn’t what it used to be.
Mr Meat – A nondescript man in a surgical mask and coat that asked if anyone was buying or selling organs. He claimed to buy both human and alien organs. Junpei said that he might be open to future business.
Wrecker – An alien known as a Zur, one of the beings that apparently occupied this world, the Bones of Askalon. He specialized in robot parts, power armor parts, and cybernetic items. Junpei and Montana spent some time speaking with Wrecker, and found that he was also a fixer that arranged for those who wanted to pay for services to meet those that wanted to provide them.
As with the other Zur, Wrecker was tall, slender, covered in a brown carapace, and had various dark bumps that seemed to be eyes.
Some of the Zur offered tours of the local area, but few seemed interested. Mr. Johnson seemed a bit likely, but he prefers dampness, and the desert outside was not to his liking.
Junpei, driven by sense of duty to his clan, took the super-soldier serum, with Doc Martin nearby, just in case. He emerged a 350 pound human-reptile hybrid with functioning wings and dense claws.
Doctor Montana reached home after the trip to the Underground market. He spotted a drone observing him as he pulled into the garage. He ran inside and got his bow and nicked it with an arrow, knocking a panel off of the flying spy, which quickly flew off.
Junpei by the clan because Daniel Chen, a manager at the Far East, a club in Chinatown, was apparently kidnapped by the Zetas. Acero, an alleged supersoldier, was apparently part of this operation. The Emaculate Egret Tong expects action by their Yakuza senior partners.
